A trial is tentatively set for late August or early September. In February 2022, the organization and Weisselberg filed motions asking that the criminal case be dismissed, alleging that it was based on political bias. A second grand jury was convened in October 2021 and remained in session for six months. Prosecutors filed 10 charges against the organization, alleging that it had conducted a "15 year 'scheme to defraud' the government", and 15 felony counts against longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg. By mid-2021, the New York AG had joined the Manhattan DA's criminal probe, with the latter convening a grand jury. One of these is a criminal case being conducted by the Manhattan district attorney (DA) and the other is a civil case being conducted by the New York Attorney General (AG).
